Get back to a time when a new sound could only come from the design of a new hardware instrument. A time when musicians would spend time getting used to any new keyboard, adapt to its character. The "Wurli" Wurlitzer® electromechanical pianos were produced from 1954 to 1982. Modelled after a Wurlitzer® electric piano mechanism, Blue Reeds will provide that specific edgy sound that made the Wurlitzer® piano stand apart from its main competitor, the Rhodes® electric piano.
Instead of tuning forks it used reeds to generate sound, and featued one long electrostatic pickup instead of individual electromagnetic ones.
Add to this the fact each reed had a soldering pyramid at its tip used to adjust tuning (yes, you had to use a soldering iron to tune it), and you had an instrument that sounded and reacted very differently from anything else.
That funny reed tip and the long electrostatic pickup also produced a very specific buzzing sound evolving through the decay, and especially present on lower register.
Blue Reeds brings back the full magic of this sound into the virtual world, thanks to its specific reactive synthesis engine.

Blue Reeds is the result of many years of sound analysis and research on physical modeling.
The sounds it delivers can be A/B compared to direct input sounds of the real instrument. It doesn't use modal synthesis or any output oriented approach.
Reactive Synthesis is process oriented, which means every electro-mechanical step has been modelled. Reed's motion is generated and passes through the pickup which transform it into something completely different and way more complex.
The result is a unique dynamic response, tonal width and realism this would never be possible with any other kind of synthesis.
